Recipe for Fun

Step 1: Gather supplies. You’ll need sidewalk chalk in several colors and a few items to toss, such as small stones, pieces of chalk, wet sponges, or water balloons for a fun summer twist.

Step 2: Find a clear section of sidewalk or driveway. Using the chalk, draw a large circle on the ground and then add several smaller circles inside it to create a target, finishing with a bullseye in the center.

Step 3: Incorporate a little math practice by writing numbers inside each circle so kids can add up their scores after each round.

Step 4: Have each player choose their tossing item and determine the order of play.

Step 5: Take turns tossing the markers toward the target. The goal is to land as close to the bullseye as possible—or directly in it!

Step 6: Add up the points after each round or simply see whose toss lands closest to the center. Either way, it’s a simple way to mix movement, friendly competition, and a little learning.
